The Girl:
My friends all say,
How much I've changed,
That I don't seem,
To care anymore
Every night in the dark,
I hear my mother cry,
Asking, "What happened,
To my little girl?"
When he thinks I'm sleeping,
My father says I'm hurting her,
I hear his whispers,
But it doesn't seem to matter.
Are all these things,
The result of you?
Your appearance seems,
Very well timed.
I'm not sure I like this,
I'm not sure if I mind,
My emotions are stolen away,
And I suspect you as the thief.
Indifference:
How selfish,
Of your little friends,
To try and keep you,
From change.
What sort of mother,
Does not love her child,
Just as she is?
Pay her no heed.
Your father is a fool,
He doesn't know,
Of what he speaks,
Listen instead to me.
I have cost you nothing,
I have given you much,
I took away your worries,
How bad can I be?
I've kept you from hurting,
Made you different from the rest,
I've made you perfect,
You need nothing else.
Put away your accusations,
I'm only here to help,
You'll understand very soon,
When I'm all you have left.
